Self-Service Car Wash

Are you damaging your car paint or actually washing your car? It’s important to always use proper washing and drying techniques. Swirl marks that disfigure your car are, in part, caused by poor washing technique. Regular washes and careful hand-drying is the best care that you can give your vehicle. Improper techniques not only impede the longevity of your car, but cause scratches in the paint, requiring compounding or polishing. You can avoid these problems and save yourself time by following a few simple tips when washing and drying your vehicle.

01: Pre-Soak

Apply pre-soak to remove road film prior to high pressure wash. Pre-soaking your vehicle will allow you to achieve a higher level of clean by breaking down grime and dirt.

  • Squeeze trigger. Low pressure.
  • Turn selector knob to PRE-SOAK.
  • Apply low pressure pre-soak to entire vehicle.
  • Apply pre-soak to remove road film prior to High Pressure Soap.

02: Bug-Off

  • Turn selector knob to BUG-OFF.
  • Spray on entire front of vehicle.
  • Let soak for a short time.
  • This product is available at both locations.

03: High Pressure Rinse

high pressure rinse

Rinse the car completely with water to get rid of any loose dirt and dust accumulated on the surface. The purpose of rinsing before washing is to remove contaminants so they do not scratch the paint as they slide off the vehicle. The team at Gosda’s Car Wash says that it is beneficial to rinse your vehicle from top to bottom. By starting at the top, you will avoid sliding dirt into your previously rinsed area.

  • Squeeze trigger. High pressure.
  • Grip wand firmly.
  • Turn selector knob to RINSE.
  • Rinse from top to bottom.

04: High Pressure Soap

Start washing the car from the top and working your way to the bottom. Also remember to wash down the vehicle as opposed to front to back. Make a few overlapping passes too. Since the lower panels are dirtiest, the experts at Gosda’s Car Wash recommend cleaning the windows and upper panels before cleaning the lower half, which will prevent transferring grit to the top half of the vehicle.

  • Squeeze trigger. High pressure.
  • Turn selector knob to WASH/SOAP.
  • Apply high-pressure soap to entire vehicle.
  • Wash vehicle from top to bottom.

05: Foam Brush

For stubborn spots, like bugs or tar, use a foam brush to gently remove sticky contaminants without scratching.

  • Check brush for cleanliness. Rinse if needed.
  • Turn selector knob to FOAM BRUSH.
  • Gently scrub entire vehicle.
  • Return brush to holder.

06: TriFoam

  • Turn selector knob to TRIPLE FOAM CONDITIONER.
  • Apply thoroughly to entire vehicle.
  • Return foam gun to holder.
  • Rinse with high pressure.
  • This product is only available at the 2nd Street location.

07: Engine & Tire Cleaner

Wanting to achieve that new vehicle feel with shiny rims? Spray your tires and engine down with our engine and tire cleaner. It is recommended to focus on one area at a time, so that the cleaner does not dry. After the cleaner has soaked for a few minutes, use our strong jet hose to rinse the entire area clean.

  • Wash entire engine and/or tires, let soak and rinse off.
